Port Technical Training Institute

Our staff is a blend of state-certified vocational instructors and professionals from within our industry who have been performing on-the-job training for many years.  The program we offer provides students with the best possible real-world environment for learning the basic skill fundamentals plus the specifics of the port industry.

The program combines classroom theory, shop training and time in the field with hands-on training on a wide variety of equipment from instructors who have detailed, first-hand knowledge of port equipment.  Their experience helps trainees learn how to prioritize and optimize maintenance tasks, through understanding the predictive wear-life of real-world components.  In addition, our excellent working relationship with the New York and New Jersey port personnel and equipment manufacturers enables us to offer a program that is geared to maximize student mastery of required skills.

Jim AnastasioJames C. Anastasio
President and Founder

Port Technical Training Institute (PTTI) was founded by Jim Anastasio to provide updated training port maintenance personnel in increasingly challenging times.  Since 1979, Anastasio has worked his way through the ranks of the port industry in New York and New Jersey developing excellent relationships with the terminal operators and equipment manufacturers. Anastasio’s own background is similar to the demographic of many of the workers who will be involved in the training program.  Because he has walked a mile in their shoes, he has an acute insight into their concerns and aspirations. His past management successes in various positions at the port demonstrate that he also has the leadership ability to bring out the best in port maintenance workers.

Anastasio is very grateful for the success he has achieved in the port industry.  It is his desire to help create some of the same opportunities for all port maintenance personnel by offering them comprehensive training.
