Our Facility

Our program is a combination of hands-on instruction and classroom theory.  Our state-of-the-art shop facility contains the exact equipment that students will be exposed to in the field, and is designed to complement and expand on courses taught in the classrooms.

Our shop facility contains a broad range of equipment and simulators set up for hands-on training.  They include:

  • Lab Volt Computerized Electrical Training System
  • Lab Volt Computerized Programmable Logic Controller Training System
  • Lab Volt Computerized Hydraulic Training System
  • Four fully equipped welding and burning stations
  • Diesel-generator unit
  • Refrigeration training unit
  • DC electric motor
  • AC electric motor
  • Hydraulic pumps
  • Cylinders
  • Valves
  • Transmissions
  • Gearboxes

Some of these units are operational and some are cut in half to allow the student to see the inside of the equipment and fully understand how the machinery operates.

Working together with terminal operators, PTTI also conducts field trips to terminals where students are trained on the actual equipment currently in use.  Field training under the guidance of a skilled instructor is invaluable when students graduate and must undertake real-world maintenance projects involving similar equipment.
